RNC officials have told reporters that the party is “welcomed” to host a game-day party for the 2020 Republican National Convention.
The RNC confirmed Wednesday that it had received an invitation to the Game Night Party for the 2018 National Convention and that it will be held at the RNC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. “The RNC has long been a leader in advancing inclusion, tolerance, and equality for all Americans,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said in a statement.
“We look forward to welcoming our members and supporters to the RNC in 2020 and continuing to support the values that make our country great.
We will continue to build on our success, and are excited to welcome our guests to the party.”
A spokeswoman for the DNC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The game-time event will take place on Monday, Aug. 20, at 11:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
A separate event is scheduled for Monday, July 20, for RNC members to watch the Republican National Committee’s convention from the convention’s south side, according to a statement from the RNC.
