The NFL has announced its first-ever Hunger Games themed event, starting this week in Houston.
The NFL will play host to Hunger Games: The Game at NRG Stadium in Houston, beginning Thursday, March 16.
“Our fans deserve more than a quick snack, and that’s why we’re excited to bring them this Hunger Games inspired event,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement.
Fans will get a chance to experience the Hunger Games theme for the first time at NRGs game, starting at 7:30 p.m. and lasting through the evening.
With an expanded field of competition, the Hunger Game will offer fans a glimpse into what the NFL can do for the game and for its communities.
The first-of-its-kind Hunger Games game will be played in a stadium that will be equipped with food trucks, a bar, an open-air bar, and a lounge area.
The stadium will also feature a dining area for fans who want to share their food with their fellow Hunger Games fans.
“We’ve seen an increase in interest in the Hunger and Hunger Games themes from fans of all ages and from all over the world,” NFL executive vice president of marketing and partnerships Michael Brown said.
“I’m excited that the first Hunger Games-themed event in our league will give fans of this iconic series a chance for some real food, drink, and fun at a great value.
The Hunger Games will continue to evolve into a new era of sports entertainment and excitement for fans.”
The Hunger Games are the second-most watched sports show in the United States after the Oscars, and are currently airing in 20 countries around the world.
This is the second Hunger Games event for the Houston Texans, who announced last year that they would host the first-time event at NRg Stadium.
Fans can also catch up on the Hunger games by tuning in to the NFL Network’s new show, The Hunger Game: Season 2, which will premiere this spring.
